Hamptons styled homes offer a blend of elegance and homeliness, with the Aussie 'coastal hamptons' offering a harmonious blend of Hamptons meets beach house, a style that works really well for the modern Australian life style, laid back with a hint of sophistication.
Generally, weatherboard clad homes with crafted timber details often finished in whites or grey tones this style of build feels right at home along the Australian coast and equally on acreage / rural sites. They are a truly versatile and timeless style of architecture.
FBC Design have been involved in numerous examples of Hamptons style homes (as pictured), from the traditional classic Hamptons home with all the trims and ornate fixtures and fittings (leaning towards a French provincial styling), to the modern Australian take on the classic which often incorporates a coastal influence with lighter natural timbers (commonly oaks) and a less fuss, slightly modernised interior commonly incorporating matte blacks / whites or bronzes / golds in the fixtures. Wherever you fit on the Hamptons spectrum we can cater the design accordingly.
FBC works closely with local builders who are experts in constructing these homes and are truly considered the industry authority on putting together this style, ensuring our design vision is implemented to the highest of standards with no detail overlooked.

TIPS
Double Up: Double posts and double timber capping rails are a great way to add that extra layer of detail and visual interest
Cladding: Break it up, consider using more than one cladding profile / size. Generally a wider board on the base and a narrower board up top
Roof pitch: The steeper pitch is more aligned with the classic Hamptons home in the 17-25deg range, while dropping it down a few degrees into the 10-17deg range can give a more casual coastal aesthetic
Colours: Use a bright white to ‘pop’ certain elements in the foreground i.e window architraves and use an off white or light grey as the non-framing elements which visually sets them back and provides relief
Articulation: Keep it interesting with a stepped floor plate and some varying roof pitching points. Higher roof elements provide great opportunity for a grand entry and highlight windows for beautiful light filled interiors
